Meet our FAIRY newborn cover which also doubles as a super convenient newborn nappy. The insert snaps into the back of the nappy under the PUL flap and is easily interchangeable to use over and over with a new insert. 


Material: Polyester outer with TPU waterproof inner. 

Features: 

  • 2.5kg to 10kg.
  • Soft double-leg external gusset. 
  • Double waist hip snaps for an easy fit.
  • Soft tummy elastic to contain any leaks.
  • Gentle white binding around the outer.
  • Internal PUL flap with elastic to prevent leaks.

Insert: 
An optional insert is available to purchase with this cover to make it a super easy-to-use newborn nappy. The Fairy snake insert is a 3-layer high GSM bamboo/cotton,  topped with a stay-dry suede cloth that will keep your baby's skin feeling dry.

Wash & Care

To get the best results from your nappies we recommend following these 4 simple wash steps:

  1. Dry Pail
    Remove solid poo from the nappy, separate inserts from the shell and place in your dry pail.
    (Babies not yet on solids can go straight in your dry pail).
  2. Pre-wash cycle
    Run a short wash cycle 40-60 degrees with half the normal detergent every 1-2 days. Remove from your washing machine and dry pail awaiting your main wash.
  3. Main-wash cycle
    Run a longer main wash cycle 40-60 degrees with detergent every 3-4 days.
  4. Hang to dry
    Hang nappies to dry or use a clothes dryer on low heat.

Is it complicated to use? I’m already overwhelmed.

Nope. We’ve kept this one as simple as possible.

Snap the insert in, pop it on, done. No folding, no weird hacks, no YouTube tutorials required at 2am.

What’s this “snake insert” thing and do I actually need it?

It’s basically your absorbency MVP.

A long, flexible insert that you can customise depending on how much your baby wees. Light day? Use less. Big sleeper? Add more where you need it.

Or skip it completely and use the cover over your own flats or preflats if that’s your vibe.

Do I need to change the whole nappy every time or can I reuse the shell?

You can absolutely reuse the shell and once you start doing it, it feels like a life hack.

If it’s just wee, you can swap out the insert and reuse the cover a few times before changing the whole thing.

If there’s poo involved… it’s a full change. No one’s trying to salvage that situation 😅

Just make sure the shell isn’t damp or dirty and you’re good to go.

How many newborn nappies do I actually need?

Newborns are busy little humans… expect around 8 to 10 nappy changes a day.

If you’re washing every 3 days, that’s roughly 24 to 30 changes you need to cover. BUT here’s where it gets easier (and cheaper)…Because the insert is removable and the shell is reusable, you don’t need 30 full nappies.

You can comfortably get by with:
• 5 to 6 shells
• A solid stack of inserts (around 24 to 30)
Swap the insert each change and reuse the shell until it needs replacing.

Way less bulk. Way less cost. Way more manageable.

Will this actually fit my tiny newborn

Fair question. This one is designed specifically for newborns from around 2.5kg up to roughly 10kg. It’s not a bulky OSFM pretending to be newborn.

With the double gussets and adjustable snaps, you can get a proper snug fit around those skinny little legs.

Can I use this day and night?

Yep, but with a caveat.

Daytime, easy.

Nighttime depends on your baby. Some newborns sleep like angels, others absolutely flood a nappy. The beauty of this system is you can add more absorbency if needed.
