Wash & Care

To get the best results from your nappies we recommend following these 4 simple wash steps:

  1. Dry Pail
    Remove solid poo from the nappy, separate inserts from the shell and place in your dry pail.
    (Babies not yet on solids can go straight in your dry pail).
  2. Pre-wash cycle
    Run a short wash cycle 40-60 degrees with half the normal detergent every 1-2 days. Remove from your washing machine and dry pail awaiting your main wash.
  3. Main-wash cycle
    Run a longer main wash cycle 40-60 degrees with detergent every 3-4 days.
  4. Hang to dry
    Hang nappies to dry or use a clothes dryer on low heat.

How do they work?

Our Pixie nappy is a versatile one-size-fits-most (OSFM) style designed to adapt from birth to toilet training. Featuring a water-resistant shell, and selected absorbency (either the trifold & booster or hemp duo set). The absorbency is inserted into the pocket for an unbeatable nappy setup, natural fibre inserts & a stay-dry lining against your baby's skin.

With all the essential features, the Cloth Bums Pixie ensures your little one will stay comfortable and leak-free throughout their journey.

Use the adjustable 'grow with me' snaps on the shell on the nappy to adapt to your baby's ever growing shape. The snaps up the middle are called your rise snaps, designed to adjust the overall length and leg hole of the nappy, and around the top are your hip and waist snaps that will adjust the width around the tummy.

How Many Nappies Do I Need?

Your nappy needs will change as your baby grows! Newborns typically need more changes than older bubs. For full-time cloth nappy use, we recommend around 24 nappies in your stash. But don’t worry – starting small is absolutely okay! Even just a few nappies make a big difference. Remember, it's a journey, not an all-or-nothing commitment!

Can they be used of a nighttime?

Absolutely! Every child is different, but for most little ones over 4 months old, a dedicated night-time nappy is the way to go. Do I need to use both inserts in the nappy?

Not always, they are designed to grow with your little one! The beauty of the Pixie Nappy is its flexibility:

  • For newborns or light wetters, one insert is usually enough.
  • For older bubs or heavy wetters, using both inserts gives extra absorbency and helps prevent leaks.

How Do I Wash Cloth Nappies?

Washing cloth nappies is easier than you think! Here's a quick guide:

  1. Prep: Remove solids (a nappy liner can help!) and give the nappy a quick rinse.
  2. Storage: Store used nappies in a dry nappy pail or wet bag until wash day.
  3. Wash: Follow our Washing Guidelines for best results. Generally, this includes a pre-wash cycle followed by a longer main wash at 40-60°C using a cloth nappy-friendly detergent.
