How To Use Cloth Wipes

How To Use Cloth Wipes

Posted by Warehouse Staff on

Cloth wipes are an all round easy win for everyone. There are zero nasty chemicals in them so they're suitable for even the most sensitive skin, they'll save you money and time, with all of the bonus environmental factors of one less single use item going into landfill.

Cloth wipes are a great choice whether your child is in reusable cloth nappies or not but for those that already are there are no extra steps when it comes to laundering your wipes. They go straight into the dry pail with soiled nappies and then through the exact same laundering process. Once out of the washing machine, wipes can be dried or go straight back into a container to be used again while still damp. We recommend drying wipes every few wash cycles or simply to avoid potential mildew growth, and to extend the lifespan of your wipes.
A wipes container can be anything at all, but the best ones (like our cloth wipes system) are easy to open one handed while dealing with a wiggly baby on the change table! You can't imagine the true importance of this bit until you're dealing with an unhappy teething baby and a nappy that looks like a crime scene painted with poo. A container that genuinely opens easily with just one hand is worth it's weight in actual gold.
Dry wipes can sit in a drawer and be wet at the change table with a spray or drink bottle of water, but the preference at CB HQ is for pre-watered wipes that can sit in the container for a couple of days or so, ready to be used. It's best to change them up every 2-3 days and give your container a precautionary wipe out and dry to avoid mildew growth. You can even concertina fold your wipes if you want to get fancy with how they pull out of the box...but we won't judge you if you're more of a 'chuck them straight in the box' kinda fam.
20 wipes will be enough to get you started, lasting for a couple of days or so. There are a lot of opinions out there on this one but ultimately, there's just no need to add essential oils or soaps to your wipes' water, either. Bamboo velour and absorbent bamboo terry are cushy and gentle that combined with water will be more than enough to get the job done and keep your baby's skin squeaky clean.
Don't forget that it's just as easy to maintain your cloth wipes use even when out and about. You just throw your day's wipes (wet or dry alongside a water bottle to wet as you go) into a small wet bag and you have a wipes dispenser all set! Dirty wipes can just sit inside the dirty nappy shell once used and into the dry pail once you're home again.
We know that you'll love them as much as we do and wonder how you ever used anything else!
